In a surprise move (note: a surprise in that it amazes us that Square-Enix decidedly took this long to announce such a game) Square has filed a trademark for “Dragon Quest Wars”. Our first inclination was to jump for joy at the thought of YET ANOTHER STRATEGY RPG, as if the 100+repetitive hours of Final Fantasy: Tactics Advance 2 wasn’t enough. However, the addition of the moniker “Wars” can at least provide fodder for some creative game variations.
A Master Chief with Dragonball spiky hair?
A Zerg-rush of slimes?
A Warthog that is ACTUALLY a wart hog?
Probably not. At least Square Enix has set us up with a teaser for what could be another platinum-selling game in the land of the rising sun, and another reason to wonder why Dragon Quest games have yet to catch fire Stateside.
