Happy 3rd Birthday, Goozex

Goozex, the upstart game-trading service that revolves around a point-based owner-to-owner trade system, hits its third anniversary this month.  The company, founded in 2006, offers what most of its thousands of users will attest to being a fair and equal trade value system.  Goozex also offers direct purchase of games for those that don’t wish to trade in their copies of Simpsons: Hit and Run.  To date, Goozex estimates that its users have saved over $4.5 million over similar services, buying new games, and buying/trading used games at stores like GameStop and EBGames.

Personally, I am an avid user of Goozex as a way to clear out my completed, no-longer-played games and to receive new (used) games that I’ve wanted to try.  I’m not much of a game collector.

To have survived this long, and to be growing as fast as it is in this economy, Goozex can probably be labeled a success.  Will it last?  Only time will tell.  With the gaming industry moving more and more to digital distribution, services like Goozex could be affected inversely.

Until then though, Goozex can celebrate with a glass of champagne, a smile on their face, and slice of cake.  And no, the cake is not a lie.
