While actual Facebook integration this is not, Nintendo has created an app for our favorite little social network (outside of Twitter, of course) that allows friends to create and host WiiSports Resort game nights/parties.  Included is the option to set up and run a tournament online… er, in Facebook that is.  Wins and losses are tracked, with virtual trophies and metals (read: achievements) awarded to players to display on the site.  Finally, images and videos of the events can be uploaded and shared.

While it’s nice to see Nintendo utilize this sort of social media marketing to promote WiiSports Resort, it would be even better to have them open up their API a la XBox Live or even Facebook itself to allow actual links between the consoles and the website.  That kind of tech is ONLY 5 years old, ya know.  Until then, you’ll have to actually type and click your info in.  How archaic!

Now available on Facebook.

The combination of Social Media and real gaming (not those silly FB games) sounds like a great idea!
