Mass Effect 2 Collector’s Edition Announced

me2_ceboxAh, Collector’s Editions.  Often the purchasing bane of many a gamer, selecting whether to buy the ho-hum “regular” version or the edition that comes prepackaged in a tin can be a choice almost as difficult as choosing your soul mate in Harvest Moon.

BioWare and Electronic Arts have announced just such a special edition version of Mass Effect 2 for both the PC and XBox 360.  Featuring the now prerequisite tin case, art book, and “making of” DVD the Collector’s Edition also includes the first issue of the Mass Effect Redemption comic.

But wait, there’s more!

Also included in the box are special in-game armor and weapons available only to the purchasers of the CE.  Or, at least until they appear on XBox Live Marketplace a month or so later for a few bucks (our prediction).

Does anyone buy these special editions?  Apparently so, if they keep pumping them out for every major release.

Retailing for $69.99 (Xbox 360) and $59.99 (PC) the editions are $10 more than the regular, you-should-be-ashamed-of-yourself-cheapo versions releasing on Jan 26 (NA) and 29 (EU).
