  • Pikemoney

Sorry it’s great cause of the story and cloud and sephiroth being one of my favorite villains

  • Nick

My favorite RPG has to be Legend of Dragoon. I am alone in this, I know.

All time favorite is still Chrono Trigger

I would have to say Final Fantasy 7. Loved the whole game, especially the Materia.

    Morrowind is definitely my favorite.

  • ItsPirrip

My current favorite RPG game is Malicious for the PS3. Its only available in the Japanese PSN, I loved the trailer so much, I asked my sister to buy a Japanese PSN card to be able to buy and play it… and I don’t regret at all, the gameplay is amazing, it would be really great if SOA allows this game to come to USA so others can enjoy it as well. It’s only 800 yen rough :D

  • JEdwards

My favorites would be Suikoden/Suikoden 2 off the top of my head.

So many good ones to choose from… Final Fantasy VII was the first PSX RPG I played and I will always love it, but I really liked X. Also, Lost Odyssey rarely gets mentioned and I love that game.

    Skies of Arcadia!

  • Andrew

I am playing through Mass Effect 2, best game I’ve ever played

  • Kat Leonard

My favorite RPG is up in the air. I really like the ones I’ve played for different reasons. If I want a grinding RPG, I’ll play the original Two Worlds. If I want an interesting story I’ll play something like Mass Effect or Fallout. If I want a story plus grinding, I’ll play Oblivion. :D

  • OnyxPrimal

My Favorite of all time goes way back. Pool of Radiance on C64. 1st RPG I ever played. I spent hours upon hours freeing the people of Phlan from the evil of Tyranthraxus. When I got an another computer I picked a another copy. Got it when it came out on NES and still to this day, I play it once every year.

  • T1tties

hmm, let’s see. Morrowind is definitely one of the favs, but i think my all time fav is Baldur’s Gate 2.

My favorite RPG is Mass Effect 2…amazing!

  • Neil M.

My favorite RPGs were from the Phantasy Stay series from the Sega Genesis days, always got more into those games then the first Final Fantasy games :)

Pokemon is an RPG, right? Pokemon totally counts.

  • Robyn

I also greatly enjoyed the Phantasy Star series in fact when I borrowed the sega collection for xbox thats the only ones I played LOL. my kids would come and watch and be amazed at all the boring redundancy heh but we loved it.

  • kuz101

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is my all-time favorite rpg. The story reveal mid-way through is top-notch. The gameplay caters to many different styles. It is drenched with Star Wars lore. Also, Pazaak ain’t bad either.

  • obsidianspire

My favorite rpg is epic and it is named bakdurs gate dark alliance. :D. It is so much fun.

  • obsidianspire

    Also enjoy fire emblem!

  • arctic00

My favorite RPG is Mass Effect 2 because it has elements of my favorite game types – RPG and shooter

  • Andy Madruga

My favorite rpg has to be fallout 3 and elder scrolls oblivion. Two very awesome games with so much to offer.

  • ropes

Final Fantasy 6 was my favorite as it introduced me into RPGs and I also consider it to be one of the best rpgs made in the last 30 years.

  • coneecheewa

The Elder Scrolls rpgs are all great and totally absorbing, especially Morrowind. The story is great and the world is absolutely humongous. wasted many a day on that game.

  • TYLERxDURDEN

Oblivion was alot of fun but FFVII is my favorite of all time!

  • http://www.3smovradio.com WiFi Pirate

Final fantasy 6 (three in the states). It’s the only one that I have finished multiple times, and propbaly will finish again.

  • Dan Diemer

    I also forgot earthbound

  • JEdwards

    Final Fantasy V

  • Neil M.

For my second entry I’ll say that Phantasy Star II was my favorite RPG of that series. I liked the future sci-fi style it had :)

  • arctic00

Mass Effect 2 is my favorite RPG because it had RPG and shooter game type elements, an interesting story, worthwhile DLC, and great graphics.

  • coneecheewa

For my second entry, i will say Super Mario RPG. cuz it was totally awesome for its time!

  • kuz101

Another favorite RPG of mine is Shin Megami Tenswi: Persona 4. The amazing localization retained the japanese craziness that the game exceeded at. The story, characters, dungeon crawling, and persona combining were all great.

  • ItsPirrip

Another favorite RPG is Tales of Vesperia it was so much fun. especially facing the final boss with the fel arms weapons…the weapons which attack power equals the amount of enemies the character killed.I spent so much time farming for materials with yuri and rita that the final boss was a push over XD

  • Tony Costa

I also really enjoyed Dragon Age, with another one of my fave RPGs!

  • Robyn

I was reminded of this one this morning, Secret of Mana, oh the hours I played that lol good times good times.

  • ruddyadam

People’s favorite games aren’t always the ones that garner the highest critical acclaim, but are more importantly ones that impact the player on an emotional level. For me, Final Fantasy II (Japan IV) for the Super NES was such a game.

I have this very distinct memory of sitting in 9th grade chemistry class and just staring at the clock, watching it tick slowly by because all I wanted to do was get home and play this game. And when school finally ended for the day and I got off at my bus stop, I actually RAN the 4 blocks back to my house, just giggling because I was so happy. I mean, seriously… who does that??

And so of course I would just lose myself in it for hours on end and love every minute of it. And yeah, I’ve played other great RPGs since then that were fun and exciting, but I don’t remember any other game making me actually FEEL like that. Maybe it was just the right game at the right time for me, but whatever it was, Final Fantasy II definitely sticks out in my memory as being an absolute joy to play.

  • Kp

Final fantasy 6! It’s what finally got me started on rpgs!

  • Dominic G.

Glad to see the made some improvements from the first one. Still surprised how this even got a sequel.

  • Jason S

Well if I have to say what my favorie RPG is, then without a doubt it’s Deus Ex.
From the multiple ways to handle situations, the dialog, (for the time) the graphics, music and the gameplay was just phenomenal.
I spent alot of time with this classic when it came out, and it still holds up to this day. Now bring on Human Revolution!

  • Skrams

One of my favorite RPGs was probably Fallout 3 although it barely is one I’d say besides its dialog and stats. Although I put 200 hours into it just walking around the world. I’ve tried to get into Stalker recently but find it a little too janky for my tastes. I just like the sensation of walking around a world and finding cool shit. Oh cool giant teddy bear? Dominoes made out of abraxo cleaner? Radio signals from dead people in sewer drains? I just love finding little awesome hidey holes and little stories to each place.

  • http://www.cheapassgamer.com WhipSmartBanky

I love classic JRPGs like Dragon Quest and modern sci-fi Western RPGs like Fallout 3.

  • Annie

My fav RPG game would be D&D – Warriors of the Eternal Sun for the Sega!
And i’ve still neer passed it, although I’ve never tried since I was 15 ;)
