The Evening Report: Bad Wording Edition

Stuck on a frozen tundra, I had naught but the internet to keep me warm. Thankfully, the polar bears and ravenous pougleys were busy, so they weren’t knocking on my igloo door. No, I don’t live on a tundra and bears and the made up ‘pougleys’ aren’t attacking me, but it is damn cold outside. That is good news for you guys, however, as it gave me ample time to scour the intertubes in search of the best news stories that money didn’t pay for…my money, anyway. So, here are a couple bits about Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3, and Bulletstorm 3 (sans the ‘3’).

“Get your calendar out, get a pen, and mark the 20th September 2011” That is what we are being told, as that is the day Gears of War 3 hits store shelves. Now, I am sure that you guys are going to forget when the game is going to be released. I mean, it isn’t like Microsoft is willing to spend millions of dollars reminding you every few days that September 20th is ‘Gears Day’.

How many classic games are available on the Japanese PSN store? That’s right, over 600. How many classic games are available on the American PSN store? Nope, not 600. Try less than 100. Yup, the point of this story was supposed to be how many games the Japanese PSN has, but I flipped the script into me complaining about the lack of games on the American PSN. WTF, SCEA? Fix your s***.

Ben Kuchara of Ars has some bad news for you PC gamers: You guys got the shaft…again. This time, courtesy of a crappy port of Bulletstorm. Ben Kuchara isn’t the only one having issues, and finding strange config files; the forums are rampant with complaints. There are worse things that could happen, unfortunately, there isn’t an uprising in Egypt this week. Too soon?

Battlefield 3 got a slick premier trailer, along with news of a pre-order bonus. Wait, shh. I think I just heard all of the Team [JOY] guys smash their monitors with telltale erections. Anyway, that bonus is ‘Back to Karkand’, which is four Battlefield 2 maps remade, and also several weapons and vehicles from the classic game. We still have some time to wait before the game is out (this fall), but seriously, this trailer really got us amped for the game:
