During his GDC 2011 keynote, Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata and Reggie Fils-Aime have announced that Netflix is coming to 3DS, with a pseudo-Airplay ability to pause play on the device, pick it up on the Wii, and vice versa. Fils-Aime also mentioned that the devices could “switch” video playback, so that if a child was watching Netflix on the TV and an adult on the 3DS, the users could change streaming devices based on preference. More information on that feature has not been revealed at this time.
Fils-Aime also mentioned services that will allow 3D video, short-form “pre-selected” (read: family-friendly) 3D movies, 3D music videos and more on the 3DS.
