8-Bit Week: Eight Bit Knits

8-Bit Week: Eight Bit Knits

Knitting and gaming.  They don’t seem to go hand-in-hand, but when the two do come together it’s clearly a marriage of equals.  So, when friend of the site Randi Mae showed us some of the craft that she had done, we quickly fell in love.  Super Meat Boy.  Yarn.  Felt.  HAPPY.

Randi, curator of recently launched Eight Bit Knits, is an energetic gaming connoisseur whom we had the grace to hang with at PAX East last month.  As an artist AND a gamer, she often mixes the two together.  She created the Link (pictured above) after I asked if she ever worked on 8-Bit characters.  The details in her work are great; she manages to capture the essence of a classic character, almost making them look effortlessly simple.  Yet, trust us when we say that a LOT of time and work goes into it.  She’s knitting, and knitting takes time.

She also recently completed an 8-Bit inspired Super Meat Boy set that looks just as delectable.   She’s working on more 8-bit designs, which should be available in the next couple of months.  You can scope out more of her work at her Etsy storefront and check out the gallery below.
