Follow Friday: Jim Sterling @JimSterling

If you’re a Twitter user, then I’m sure by now you’ve seen the weekly #ff hashtag show up. The tag, which is a shortened form of #followfriday, indicates the Tweeter’s (Twitterer? Tweetist?) showcase of recommended people to follow. Our team at SideQuesting follows several great people in the gaming industry, from journalists to developers, critics to other gamers, and we’d love to share these folks with you

Each week, we’ll plan on selecting one interesting person in the industry to follow on Twitter for a variety of reasons. Consider this the most important personal moment for individuals who, well, have nothing else going on in their lives that is worth mentioning. Come back each Friday to see who gets the award.

This week’s #winning Twitter performance goes to Jim Sterling, of Destructoid (and several other places).

He is undoubtedly the most opinionated man in gaming.  As a writer/reviewer/editor Jim Sterling doesn’t hold back his comments on a subject, whether it’s his love of PC gaming or Betty White’s nether region.  He tackles key issues head on, such as the attacks by Anonymous on the Playstation Network and the failures of social networking, causing some interesting replies from publishers and developers. He’s even often on the receiving end of Ben Paddon’s @GameJournos dissection of the industry’s writers, but takes it all in stride.

But, what we mostly follow Jim for is his actual extreme love of games. Now, all games writers say that they’re big fans of the form of entertainment, but Jim is the one that seems to fucking live for it.  I don’t think he would be a fit writing or doing anything else, actually.  Thankfully, he’s sticking to video games for the foreseeable future.

All this week he’s been chatting about Portal 2, Mortal Kombat’s flaws, and how L.A. Noire gives him awkward boners, making our Twitter feed that much more NSFW.

Jim Sterling, you’ve done it.  You can drop trow and show the world your e-penis. You’ve been selected to receive the highest honor of the week: SideQuesting’s Follow Friday.
