The Evening Report: Dead DS Edition

We’re sorry for our malfeasance. You haven’t been able to get your daily news. It was our fault, so we adm- wait, the judges aren’t accepting the group approach. They will only let me tell you the truth, and the truth is that I done effed up. Don’t worry though, the news from earlier in the week was bullshit. Tonight is the real deal. We have stories hitting from all over the place covering just about every hardware manufacturer.

No more DS Lite? PSP Go still in America? That and more if you check after the break.

Good news and bad news for Playstation Move owners, the good news is Child of Eden will be Move compatible; the bad news is you will have to wait until September to get your hands on it. Ubisoft announced today that the PS3 version was still in development and needs slightly more time than the Xbox 360/Kinect counterpart. Glass half-full: At least Ubisoft isn’t just going to release a broken version just to push it out the door.

Perhaps Microsoft has learned their lesson from ignoring Steam in the past, as they are now acknowledging its existence by releasing Fable III on both Steam and Games for Windows this May. Pre-ordering the game will give you different perks on each platform: through GFW you will get the entire Fable: Lost Chapters game for free, and doing so on Steam will give you the “Rebel’s Weapon & Tattoo Pack,” a set of in-game items for Fable III. Judging by those bonuses they still want you to buy the game on Games for Windows, but the other option is available, at least.

Mega Man Legends 3 is the long, long, long-awaited sequel to the 2001’s Mega Man Legends 2 coming to the 3DS later this year.. Being announced last September, much of the game has been kept in developmental secrecy. That being said, details have started to crop up in the past few days, including some screenshots and a trailer.

That’s not all, today Capcom announced that Mega Man Legends 3: Prototype Version will be coming to the 3DS eShop at its launch. A glorified demo, Prototype Version will show you “a hefty helping of what’s to come in Mega Man Legends 3, and will also get to experience gameplay as the series’ rough-housing, sky-biking new character, Barrett.”

There you have it, some confirmed content for the eShop already.

RUMOR: Nintendo DS Lite discontinued. It seems that the folks at GoNintendo have gotten their hands on a memo sent out to GameStop managers saying new supply will not be coming into stores after current supply is gone. This means that either GameStop is getting out of the profitable DS Lite game, or as expected, Nintendo will not be continuing production of the now twice outdated product.

Remember that totally obvious Tanooki tail Super Mario logo at the Nintendo keynote at GDC? Well, yea, that shit is totally a Tanooki Suit reference. Such was confirmed by Shigeru Miyamoto, among other things. Miyamoto also gave some slight details on the incoming 3DS game, saying it is a “combination of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario on N64.” Miyamoto also said that the 3D effect would have a positive effect on your playing. Using it would make the platforming much easier. And finally, he said that the game is “completely original, and coming this year.”

Lastly, the dead PSP Go, isn’t so dead. Joystiq received confirmation from SCEA today stating that they are “Continuing production of PSP Go for North America.” Europe and Japan, however, will not be receiving any more of the poor-selling product.
