Community Questions: Your Chance to Grill Gearbox

Have some burning questions you want to ask Gear Box about Duke Nukem Forever?  Now’s your chance to ask!

I’ll be interviewing CEO and president Randy Pitchford and/or Head of Marketing Steve Gibson on Monday. No matter how left field or cutting your questions are, submit them in the comments below and I’ll post the answers up on Side Questing – we will try to get as many answered as possible. The event will happen Tuesday around midday Sydney time, so get your questions in by Monday, 2 May at 8 pm (CDT).

There will also be a meet & greet of InFAMOUS 2 developers I’ll be attending on Wednesday, so if you want to put those guys on the grill, too, now is your chance. I’ll do my best to get those questions answered.  Just submit those below by Wednesday, 4 May 2011 at 12 am (CDT).

    All for Randy:

What work was left to be done on DNF when you received the game data from 3D Realms? was it just general polishing up of levels or was there any major issues which resulted in the release date being pushed back?

Is there anything that had to be cut from the 3D Realms version of the game, be it for the ESRB ratings sake or a technical issue that couldn’t be fixed in time for release?

What was your first ‘oh wow, I can’t believe they put that in!’ moment when playing the game?

What’s next for Duke after Forever finally gets its foot out the door?

Clearly women are not the core base for this game, but I’m wondering if there have been any last-minute changes that would make this game more appealing to the female gamer demographic? Or should the ladies pretty much just write it off as “completely not for me?”

Why did Gearbox choose to take over DNF?

Will there be another Duke game in the future?

When will the the DNF demo come out. and When are FAC going to get into the demo

I’d like a further explanation on the “satire” defense used against the game’s critics.

Your question came in a bit late. I did check for last q’s post before going to the event.

He used that ‘satire and parody’ defense again in the interview.

Great q’s. I had the first and last down to ask already.

Re your third question, others had asked him that previously and he stonewalled them, saying he didn’t want to give anything away.

I asked the second question. The first was already common knowledge, “he didn’t want to see Duke die”.

Re not giving anything away, he said that at the opening of the event, too.

Ah, missed it by THAT much.

Anxious to see how it turned out.
