#FollowFriday: John Drake @johntdrake

If you’re a Twitter user, then I’m sure by now you’ve seen the weekly #ff hashtag show up. The tag, which is a shortened form of #followfriday, indicates the Tweeter’s (Twitterer? Tweetist?) showcase of recommended people to follow. Our team at SideQuesting follows several great people in the gaming industry, from journalists to developers, critics to other gamers, and we’d love to share these folks with you.

Each week, we’ll be selecting one interesting person in the industry to follow on Twitter for a variety of reasons. Come back every Friday to see who gets the award.

For this, the final weekend of May, we turn our attention to music.  Near our home base of Detroit, the Movement Dance Music Festival is taking place.  It’s kind of like the “central hub” for dance music.  Wait…. Dance?  Central?  DANCE CENTRAL?

Then it must be John Drake, Director of Communications & Brand Management at Harmonix.  That segue worked, right?

If you’ve played Rock Band 3, then you’ll have John partly to thank for us covering it on the site.  Each year at E3, John has gotten up on stage and performed in front of an audience of 20 or so hungry, ornery journalists, belting out the lyrics to Beatles tunes without hesitation.  He’s in a band, of course, so he’s used to it.  He’s also very much in tune with the music world, which makes him perfect for his position at the company.

This week, John was marauded by some trolling Rock Band fans — who AREN’T OBLIGATED TO BUY ANY DLC by the way — for the choice in including Lady Gaga as a downloadable song pack.  Seriously, WTFARK?  John managed to reply back excellently, even trolling himself at one point.

Another reason you should follow him?  He’s fucking hilarious.

John Drake, this weekend you are the Prime Minister of the Internet.  You’re totes allowed to yell “Cooobraaaaaaaa!” as you celebrate your victory!
