SideQuesting Does Doctor Who

We don’t just talk about video games on SideQuesting.  Heck, the definition of a “side quest” is something akin to “off the main path”. Well, the Doctor falls a bit off the main path of conversation as well, and we know you agree.

One weekend over last Fall, on a whim while browsing Netflix instant, I came across Doctor Who.  There had been some slight Twitter chatter about the Doc and I had been halfheartedly paying attention, and having just completed another run of the IT Crowd I felt it was the right time to continue with more British TV.  Sci-Fi?  Sure, why not.

Frankly, I didn’t know what to expect.  Was it a drama?  Comedy?  Educational? Essentially, it’s a mix of all of these, with a splash of fine English Lit thrown in for good measure.  Having just completed Season 4 (of the latest Doctor series) and all of the associated specials, I decided that sharing my exponentially growing love of the Doc would be the right course of action.  So I’ve turned to SideQuesting.

I know several of our readers and friends on Twitter are giant Doctor Who fans, and I know that any conversation somehow about the subject involves more geeky love and nerdsploitation than Star Wars or Star Trek conversations.  Yes, there is more of a Doctor Who mythos and chronology than all of the “Star” movies and shows combined.  He’s been on TV since the early 60s, after all.

But I don’t know where to start this conversation. I’d like to make it a weekly thing, but I don’t think it should be strictly about the newest series.  Many of us are still playing catch-up, and any new fans might be spoilered to high hell if we dive into Doctor #11’s latest escapades. So I’ll leave it to you to get the subjects going.

What should we talk about?

This week, there’s no subject.  But, depending on how the conversation evolves from here on out, one might pop up for next week, and so on.

TARDIS key in hand, I’m ready.
