E311: Mass Effect 3 scheduled for March 6, 2012 release

The EA press conference opened up strong with a new Mass Effect 3 trailer that showcased the game’s large scale battles.  The game certainly looks like it has been aimed towards the main stream more as we saw some of Shepard’s new moves.  Shepard is now able to roll from cover to cover, and he’s now able to deliver devastating melee attacks by changing his omni-tool into an impaling device.

In addition to Shepard’s new moves, the player gets a few of his/her own if they have a Kinect.  The voice controls for the Kinect seem neat as you can now order party members to do moves by saying, for example, “Liara, singularity.”  It seemed as though this could help get gamers immersed in the game, you can actually feel like you’re giving commands to your teammates.

Mass Effect 3 is scheduled to be released on March 6, 2012.
