E311: My Wii U controller, my Wii U controller, and me

While waiting to get in line for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, a Nintendo booth babe offered to let us get our hands on her Wii U controller.  Although we normally don’t do booth babe posts here, we thought we’d make one exception with these pictures.

When I first saw the Wii U controller during their keynote, I was concerned about how the controller would feel in my hands.  Fortunately, my worries went away when I finally got a chance to hold it.  The shape and contours of the controller fit my hands well, and I was surprised to see that the two sets of shoulder buttons (triggers and bumpers) felt good too.  The thumb sticks didn’t feel like they were too much of a reach either.

It didn’t weigh as much as I expected it to, not much more than an Xbox controller.  It should be noted that this probably wasn’t a functional controller; it was hooked up to a booth babe, not a Wii U.  It may have been missing some tech that will be in the final model.

Stay tuned for our hands-on impressions of the Wii U and a more detailed analysis of the controller.
