Zynga’s bid for PopCap was a hefty one

This week, EA put up $750 million (plus $550 million in performance payouts) to acquire PopCap.  It turns out that Zynga’s bid was nothing to scoff at either.  Zynga was ready to pay $1 billion in cash for the developer, with Goldman Sachs credit backing them.

1.5 million people check out Uncharted 3 beta

Sony’s been earning some brownie points with some of its PSN users lately.  Their Welcome Back package has offered users some time with PlayStation Plus, which in turn gives anyone who was gracious enough to accept this token of forgiveness access to the Uncharted 3 beta.  To continue on this trend of big numbers this morning, Sony reports that 1.5 million people have played the beta.

Ocarinas and green tunics are in again

Old game or not, it’s clear that Zelda still sells.  Ocarina of Time 3D has sold more than 283,000 copies in its first eleven days out on store shelves.  It looks like the results are in.  Sometimes time does nothing to erode good games.

Call of Duty Elite beta is on for Xbox 360 players
