Weekly Nintendo Download – March 8th

Welcome to our new weekly feature here at SideQuesting, the Weekly Nintendo Download. Every Thursday at Noon EST, Nintendo releases new digital content for the 3DS, Wii, and DSi. Let’s see what Ninty has to offer us this week.

Hi all. My name is Patrick Wainwright. I will be your guide to the wondrous world of downloadable games on Nintendo systems. This week we have a 4 pack of titles. At the end I will give my recommendation of the week. Don’t forget to share what titles you are planning on downloading.

1) Fun! Fun! Minigolf TOUCH! for the 3DS eShop.

This game comes to us courtesy of Shin’en Multimedia. This is the second 3D golf game we have already received for the eShop. However it is the first mini golf game, and the game’s title promises fun. Twice, in fact.

2) Zuma’s Revenge for the 3DS eShop and DSiWare.

Zuma’s Revenge is made by the fine people at Popcap Games. This is one of those Popcap games that can endlessly suck up hours as you work through the puzzles and levels.

3) Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream for the 3DS eShop.

This is the NES classic resurrected for the 3DS Virtual Console by Nintendo. If you had an NES back in the day, you probably had this game or knew a friend that had it. The end boss of “Mr. Dream” (or Mike Tyson) is one of the most vicious from this period. My only complaint with this title is that Nintendo lost the license to use Mike Tyson and replaced him with the boring, generic Mr. Dream.

4) The King of Fighters ’97 for the Wii Virtual Console.

The Wii gets left out in the cold this week with only one title, but at least it is a solid Virtual Console one. The King of Fighters ’97 is an SNK title from the Neo Geo catalog. As with most Neo Geo games it is a fighting one. I have always enjoyed the King of Fighters series for their roster and 3 vs. 3 tag fighting. This may not be as good as KoF ’98, but its still a decent entry.

So, there are our four titles for this week’s Nintendo Download. My weekly personal recommendation goes to Punch-Out!! for being a classic NES title that everyone should experience. Now that it’s on Virtual Console for both Wii and 3DS, there’s no excuse not to pick it up. What titles are you grabbing this week? Let us know in the comments.
