E312: Ubisoft bringing Splinter Cell: Blacklist in 2013

Ubisoft announced Splinter Cell Blacklist
Sam Fisher returns

During the Xbox 360 press conference today, Ubisoft Toronto revealed the next chapter in the Splinter Cell saga: Blacklist. The game takes Sam Fisher back to his roots, as an undercover operative taking down terrorists in the Middle East.

The demo that was shown included the traditional sneaking, grabbing and choking enemies from behind cover, and more sneaking. Beginning with an interrogation scene, Fisher breaks free and infiltrates the terrorist base, running around and behind bunkers and dropping from terraces onto enemies. At one point Fisher climbed up the side of a building using ledges and hand holds a la Uncharted.

The futuristic technology aesthetic touches return, similar to some of the things we saw in the recently released Ghost Recon Future Soldier, including enemies on the HUD and glowing mission indicators in the background.

Kinect voice recognition will also play a part in the game, as during the demo one of the members on stage shouted “Hey, you!” to distract an enemy and get his attention… before grabbing and throwing him off of the edge.

The game will also include co-op and spy modes for multiplayer.

Blacklist arrives in Spring 2013, the new holiday season.
