Gamescom Bomb 2012: Sony Sheds Light on Until Dawn

One of the many new titles that Sony announced during its Gamescom 2012 press conference was Until Dawn — a survival horror title from Supermassive Games utilizing the Playstation Move.

Inspired by horror franchises like Friday the Thirteenth and Halloween, the game centers around a group of classmates as they visit the site of their friends’ disappearance. While investigating the mystery and try to uncover what really happened, they become caught in the same murder mystery that claimed their cohorts.

The Move controller will act as both a flashlight and a conduit for interacting with elements of the environment. However, since all we saw was a trailer, we still don’t know exactly how much control players will have over the character outside of manipulating their hands.

While centering one’s actions around actual movement sounds like a great way to immerse the player and build tension, I have my suspicions that we may be dealing with a strictly on-rails experience here. That alone is enough to keep me nice and skeptical until we see actual gameplay.
