Armed Heroes, an online role-playing game previously removed from the Apple App Store, returns October 12 with new and updated content, EGLS announced.

The game has switched to a blend of tower defense and DOTA-style gameplay, the company said. The new version includes updated character and monster models, special effects, animations and a new voice chat feature.

Armed Heroes supports all iPhone models from the iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 5, and iOS 6.

Armed Heroes was released on the App Store earlier this year, but came under scrutiny when models from Runic Games’ Torchlight were found in the game’s source code. Apple removed the game from the App Store, and EGLS promised to “modify some parts” of the game in an official statement.
