#GameChat: What were your favorite launch titles of all time?

Wii U, Vita, 3DS

In about 6 days, the world will be graced with a new video game console. This weekend, Nintendo formally launches the Wii U to the masses, ushering in the next generation of console gaming. It’s dual-screen technology, HD visuals, MiiVerse, and other features are taking innovation in the market to a new level.

We’re getting one (if we can find one).

There is a massive amount of launch titles, stretching from blockbuster FPS and sports titles to Mario, adventure games, and downloadable games. Also: zombies.

We’ve been lucky enough to have witnessed 3 gaming devices launch in less than 2 years, and we’re sure next year may bring a couple more. It got us to thinking about what our favorite launch titles of all time were. From the NES to the N64, PS2 to Wii, there have certainly been some great games launching alongside consoles.

Personal favorites of mine seemed to always revolve around Nintendo launches, as the games that launch alongside them are typically played until the end of time. The N64’s Mario 64 might be my favorite launch title of all time, but Super Mario World was just as epic and may actually be my favorite Mario title of all time. I don’t recall enjoying any of the GCN or PS2 launch titles for very long, and there wasn’t anything really exciting for the Xbox 360’s launch. Wii Sports is STILL being played at holidays in my household, but I enjoyed Twilight Princess more.

So, what were YOUR favorite launch titles? What console?
