SideQuesting’s #12Games of Christmas

12Games

It’s that particularly cheery time of year once again, and we here at the SideQuesting offices are just bursting with the requisite amounts of holiday juices.

For game journalists, December isn’t just about presents and the disappointment of our families regarding our career choices, though. It’s also home to the precious few moments between the Autumn release rush and the Spring release rush.

That gives us just enough time to hammer out our Game of the Year nominees, remind our families that we still exist and, of course, work through our ever-growing backlogs (before the become self-aware). We’ve tried to get a handle on our effin’ backlogs before, and have even provided tips on how you can do it yourself. However, real life has been getting in the way for a while now.

This year, SideQuesting is trying something a little bit different. Rather than fall into a pile of discs and downloads at random and try to survive the onslaught alone, we’ve decided to get organized.

This is the year of the #12Games of Christmas.

Between now and Jan. 1, a select group of SideQuesters [See our lists below] we’ll each be working through piles of 12 pre-selected games from our collective backlogs with the end goal of beating them before the 12:01 a.m. PST on the new year.

As we work through our colossal collections, we’ll document our thoughts and experiences literally as the credits roll at the end of each game and post them for you, our readers, in video form all throughout the month.

We’ll be dropping our thoughts as we go along, too. Using the hashtag #12Games, we’ll be posting our ongoing opinions on Twitter for up-to-the-tweet coverage of our hubris.

That’s where you readers can join in as well. If you’d like to join in on our little adventure, all you have to do is make your own #12Games list and post it in the comments. Use the hashtag on Twitter and let us know how your adventure is coming along. Each week, we’ll retweet some of our favorites through the official SideQuesting account for all to see.

Videos will go up as each game is completed, so the schedule is more-or-less out of our hands. Just keep checking SideQuesting.com and our official Twitter account for updates.

Happy Grinch hunting, everyone!
