Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Trailer Leaks, Kinda

A trailer for Square Enix’s Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, the third game in the Final Fantasy XIII saga, was put up on GameTrailers. It must have been an accident because it was swiftly taken down from the site, but preserved via the magic of the internet. We’ve included one posting of the video on Youtube that’s still up at the time of this writing, but there’s no telling how long it might stay that way. In case it goes down, the trailer begins with a CGI sequence of Lightning awaking in a vibrant city with just 13 days left before the end of the world, followed by a proclamation that this is “The final journey of Lightning” and footage of the in-game combat system.

More Games To Be Approved On Steam Greenlight

Valve announced today that the next set of games on the Greenlight community approval system will be approved and listed as “greenlit” on January 15. The Greenlight service, if you’re unaware, allows developers to post details for their in-development or elsewhere-released games to be voted on by Steam users for approval to be listed for sale. Some of the games that have been released by Greenlight include the pretty good Primordia, and the completely absurd McPixel. Games seeking to be greenlit include Legends of Eisenwald, Interstellar Marines, Enamel, and, wow, just way too many farm simulation games!

Disney Infinity Details Abound

Within these walls is secreted away a dope sounding game

Polygon’s Brian Crecente reports that Disney Infinity will be a game from the massive entertainment company seeking to combine everything from Toy Story to Minecraft to Just Cause. According to details sent to Polygon, the “gaming platform” will be a an open-world game featuring characters and settings from the intellectual properties of Disney and Pixar, developed by Avalanche software, that will appear on a wide variety of devices, from consoles to smartphones, featuring different types of gameplay like open world exploration, to racing, to map editing. The Polygon report notes that it appears the mobile versions seem focused on the character-based activities, with no sign of the various creation systems. Crecente also mentions that, while previously rumored when the game was known under the codename “Toy Box”, there doesn’t appear to be any Skylanders-like feature of scanning physical toys into the game.
