2013 Detroit Auto Show: Cars and comic books combine

KIA Batman Car

There were more than just video game inspired cars at the Detroit Auto Show this year; there were comic book inspired cars as well. Over at Kia, the company showed a couple of its vehicles in the livery of two of DC’s recent movie heroes: Batman and the Green Lantern. While there there no Christian Bales or Ryan Reynolds in the town this past week, the vehicles did their best to showcase what cars the heroes might drive. No, these are not going to be for sale; they’re just one offs for now.

Kia Optima Batmobile

A Batmobile or Tumbler this Kia Optima is not, but its mix of matte and shiny surfaces is nicely executed. That front end, though: not our first choice.

Kia Soul Green Lantern

The Green Lantern edition of the Kia Soul seemed like more natural fit. Sticking to the current vehicle’s already nice body lines, the graphic breakup included not much more than a green color accent, some lantern logos, and those sweet sweet wheels. I could see myself in this one.

Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels edition

Chevy Camaro Hot Wheels

Though not comic book based, the Hot Wheels edition of the Chevy Camaro that was on site had some really neat accents and that great blazing blue color. Setting it up on a giant fake orange track was also a positive. Oddly enough, this edition of the Camaro might actually make it to market in a limited run. MAYBE. #fingerscrossed
