Respawn Entertainment president and Call of Duty co-creator Jason West has left the company, Giant Bomb and Kotaku report.

The departure was on good terms, according to Kotaku’s unnamed sources. One “reliable source,” says West left because of “family issues,” last May.

Giant Bomb’s sources say West “has not been involved in active development for Respawn’s game for a number of months now, but it has not impacted development.”

Co-founder Vince Zampella is acting head of the studio, according to the site.

West and Zampella helped found Infinity Ward in 2002, and released several Call of Duty titles. They were fired by parent company Activision during a lawsuit in 2010. The lawsuit was settled in 2012.

In the wake of the dispute, West and Zampella helped found Respawn Entertainment. Many former Infinity Ward members left to join them at the new studio.

Respawn Entertainment has been working on a first-person shooter with Electronic Arts, and is rumored to be showing it at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this June. “I have no intention of showing up empty handed!” Zampella wrote on Twitter last Monday.
