Metal Gear Solid V Announced, Maybe The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes?

Metal Gear Solid V was officially announced Wednesday, along with this new trailer, but that’s really where things stop being clear. Remember The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes? They were announced as separate games, in The Phantom Pain’s case, completely and strangely separate from anything Metal Gear, but Hideo Kojima said today that’s not the case. According to Kojima, that was just part of the ol’ bait and switch, and that those games were actually just prologues or some separate part of Metal Gear Solid V as a whole. Given the really, really weird marketing around Phantom Pain, particularly bandaged guy named Joakim, (an anagram of Kojima,) it’s the sort of Kojima-style thing you might expect. Only, Konami confirmed to Joystiq that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes were in fact, separate games. It’s hard to get much weirder than Kojima and his crew, folks!
