SideQuesting’s Most Anticipated Games of E3 2013: Metal Gear Solid V

Metal Gear Solid V E3 2013

SideQuesting has a list! Just like any other good website looking for easy views and comment wars, we’ve assembled a mega list of the games that we’re most excited about for E3 2013. There are several, and we *hope* that they’re all awesome. I guess we find out in a week! Anyhoo, enjoy our Most Anticipated Games of E3!

I have to admit that I’m not a huge MGS fan. The convoluted story (from an outsider’s point of view) and the deep mythology are a barrier to entry. Where do I begin? Thankfully, the series was recently updated in glorious HD so I have no excuse not to start playing. So what has me excited about the latest installment? Two words: Keifer Sutherland.

Okay, that’s not the real reason, though having the Keef on board (he’s done Call of Duty in the past) is a blessing since 24 went offline. Series creator Hideo Kojima has essentially hit a “RESET” button to put the series at a new start. Yes, it still (probably) involves many of the same characters that have been a part of the previous games. And it still has a presumably bonkers story. But from what we’ve seen and been told by Kojima and others, it’ll be a point in the series where new fans can jump on much more easily than in the past, and that’s a blessing.

Another interesting note: It’s going with more of an open world structure than previous Metal Gears. Built on the Fox Engine, Konami’s powerhouse game development suite, its visuals look stunning even on the current gen of consoles (PS3, 360) for which the game is intended on. It’s also Kojima’s final final FINAL swan song for the series, even though he’d announced similar things in the past. Will it actually be? Who knows. We just hope that it’s every bit as bad ass as what little we’ve seen of it.
