We’re huge fans of Harrison Krix, the graphic design/prop maker that has created some of our favorite props & cosplay over the last few years. His Big Daddy costume still gives me nightmares. His expert mix of materials, technology, and geek love always seem to lead to some great projects.

His latest is no different.

Working with Tested.com on a multi-part series detailing how he creates his masterpieces, Krix designed and built the Needler from Halo 4. Complete with functioning lights & audio, and in life-size scale, the prop captures the badass essence of the popular video game weapon. Over several months, Krix built the prop from blueprints to resin molds, castings to weathered paint. It’s detailed in the video slideshow below, featuring 1400 or so images that show the process step-by-step. You can see the entire project as his blog, Volpin Props.
