Dissidia Final Fantasy going arcade

Dissidia Final Fantasy going arcade

As announced last weekend during the Japan Amusement Expo, Square Enix is bringing back the Dissidia series, but only in the arcades… and only in Japan. Along with the announcement they’ve released a nice little teaser showing what the game will look like.

According to crunchyroll.com, the only playable characters that have been revealed so far are:

  • Final Fantasy I – Warrior of Light
  • Final Fantasy III – Onion Knight
  • Final Fantasy VI – Terra
  • Final Fantasy VII – Cloud
  • Final Fantasy XIII – Lightning
  • Final Fantasy XIV – Y’Shtola

This shouldn’t come to a surprise to anyone that has been following Japanese gaming. Is it a bit disappointing that it is not coming to console? I would be lying if I said no. Even though the series has been a nice change of pace for any Final Fantasy fans, I really hope that it will be come popular enough where it will come to console. With the popularity of eSports I wouldn’t mind seeing another fighter that not your traditional game make it main stream. Do I believe it will happen? Might have a slight chance but I wouldn’t bet on it.

How the combat system works might be a bit confusing to many people who haven’t played the series before. But than again if you play Super Smash Bros. it can be just confusing what is going on if you have more then 4 players on screen at the same time, and look how well that game is doing.

Along with the list above here is my list of characters I would love to see make it to the all-star game:

  • Final Fantasy VI – Locke Cole
  • Final Fantasy VI – Cyan Garamonde
  • Final Fantasy VI – Sabin Figaro
  • Final Fantasy VI – Shadow
  • Final Fantasy VI – Setzer Gabbiani
  • Final Fantasy VII – Vincent Valentine
  • Final Fantasy VII – Yuffie Kisaragi
  • Final Fantasy VII – Barret Wallace
  • Final Fantasy VIII – Seifer Almasy
  • Final Fantasy IX – Vivi
  • Final Fantasy IX – Garnet Til Alexandros aka Dagger
  • Final Fantasy IX – Adelbert Steiner
  • Final Fantasy X – Lulu
  • Final Fantasy X – Rikku
  • Final Fantasy X-2 – Paine
  • Final Fantasy X-2 – Yuna

I am sure there are a lot more characters that Square Enix will probably announce, but I’m hopeful the above get at least looked at by the developer. Who would you like to see be added to the game?
