The latest trailer for Halo 5: Guardians is key to focus on Locke [Video]

Retailer exclusives are an unfortunate common practice these days as publishers look to stay in the good will of the stores that sell their games. Usually these end up becoming available post-launch as DLC at some point, so even if you choose one retailer over another, you’d still probably get the chance to get the same gear.

The holiday season is months and months away, and yet Halo 5: Guardians is firing one of the first shots at exclusive retail gear. Gamestop preorders will receive gear based on Spartan Locke, an antagonist/protagonist(?) of Guardians, in the form of HUNTER-Class Armor and a HUNTER-Class Helmet. They’re supposedly “enhanced”, but we don’t really know how beyond “situational awareness”.

In other words, it may just look pretty. At least, it does in the above Gamestop-specific trailer.

We’ll know as the game gets closer to its October 27 release date.
