Mega Man-inspired roguelike 20XX enters Beta

With Mighty No. 9 entering countless delays, and the Mega Man Legacy Collection still fresh on everyone’s minds, developers Batterystaple Games are capitalizing by releasing their rogue-like robot platformer 20XX into beta.

Entering beta is a major milestone for a game, especially in the indie scene. With this move, 20XX is now in the homestretch of development. We’ve seen the game develop over the last couple of years, and now with input from fans via places like Steam it’s heading closer to its goal. The beta’s additions include a new casual mode and visual & gameplay tweaks, and a host of bug squashing.

20XX brings a great rogue-like flavor to the robot platforming genre, and includes levels that are generated automagically as they’re played, making each play-through a completely different experience. Add in multiplayer and a fresh art style, and the game potentially has a lot going for it.

And hey, if that’s the only new Mega Man action we get for a while, it might just be enough.
