Mirror’s Edge Catalyst announces a Closed Beta

EA has announced that Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will host a closed beta prior to its release on May 24, 2016. The beta will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and Origin for PC. The other details, such as when it will take place and what will be featured, will be announced at a future date. With any luck, this beta will provide a tantalizing taste of the open-world gameplay promised by DICE. Any who are itching to try on Faith’s sneakers should run to sign-up.

The beta announcement also launched a new story trailer for Catalyst that showcases Faith’s backstory (and provides some thrilling glimpses at in-engine captures).  It’s hard not to root for Faith in the trailer, and it seems that DICE will make their fearless heroine even more memorable and dynamic.

Finally, the announcement also kicks off the Frontrunners program. By signing up for the newsletter, players will gain access to exclusive content and in-game rewards. An added perk is the opportunity to play the game before anyone else. Here are the potential trip-ups for the program: signing up for the Frontrunner program contains a clause enabling emails about other EA games, services, and events. Moreover, the perk of playing early is only promised to Xbox One and PC at the time of publication.

Nevertheless, this news is promising, and it seems to suggest that Catalyst is starting off on the right foot.
