Mid Week Mashup: Doctor Strange, Gears of War 4, Suicide Squad and Titanfall 2 trailers

What a crazy week of trailers! With Spring in full effect (somewhere… definitely not in the MidWest or the East Coast) everyone has their eyes and hearts aimed towards the Summer. And with Summer we have E3.

OH GOD E3.

At least we know a few games that will show up there. Below you’ll find the teaser for Titanfall 2, which is now confirmed to be coming to PS4 as well as PC and Xbox One. The full reveal will take place at EA’s “play” event during E3 on June 12. Robots… WITH SWORDS.

We knew Gears of War 4 was coming this year, but now we have our first look at its plot. It’s set 25 years after GoW3 (because no one wants to remember Judgement actually happened) and stars Marcus Fenix’s son, JD. It seems like there is a new enemy, but the familiar large shoulders on humans. Also, “The Sound of Silence” by Simon & Garfunkle is now officially killed off on the Internet and I never want to hear it again. Sad Affleck, Dark Souls III, and now this.

There are A LOT of comic book based movies coming this Summer. We’ve already seen Batman v Superman, and Captain America is a couple of weeks away, but there are plenty more to look forward to. Personally, Suicide Squad is perhaps tops on my own list, and the latest clip continues the excellent selection of music.

In the new TMNT: Out of the Shadows trailer we get Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang. Krang is a brain in a cyborg’s body. So, yeah, they’re trying *really hard* to make this appeal to those of us who watched the original animated series.

Though it won’t arrive until Fall, we now have our first Doctor Strange teaser trailer. Benedict Cumberbatch shows us how Steven Strange becomes the mystic man, with a little help from the Ancient One, and not much else. Expect a full trailer this Summer, but until then this will do nicely.

Godzilla! Shin Godzilla (Godzilla Resurgence), to be exact. This is the latest Japanese reboot of the monster film series (the first since 2004), and it emphasizes the scale of the beast. This is a much more radioactive monster than we’ve known in the past, and the biggest in size. The Directors have roots in Neon Genesis Evangelion, so it will probably have a plot that we can’t figure out.

Truth bomb: I’ve never seen a Harry Potter film or read any of the books. It’s about a wizard, I think? Maybe Gandalf? I’m not sure. But the new Fantastic Beasts trailer is set in ancient New York and might tip me over.

In Netflix’s upcoming series The Crown, Matt Smith (The 11th Doctor) returns to our TV sets, this time in the role of Prince Philip. This is actually the story of Queen Elizabeth’s rise to power, but Smith is the reason I’ll be watching.
