TwitchCon: Twitch Prime announced in collaboration with Amazon Prime

When Amazon first purchased Twitch more than two years ago, many wondered when the Mother Brain would sink its tentacles into the popular streaming site and fully incorporate it into its suite of services. Well, it looks like that day has finally arrived, as Twitch just took the wraps off of Twitch Prime.

Twitch Prime is sort of a “lite” version of the paid services that the company currently offers, but with one very good caveat: it comes free as a part of Amazon Prime. Though it’s not meant to replace the current creator-centric Turbo platform, Twitch Prime will be geared more towards viewers, and seems to fit in nicely with Amazon’s “give me everything” mentality.

Prime will give subscribers free gaming loot each month (characters, in-game items, beta access, free games, etc), as well as discounts on preorder and new release boxed games, emoticons, one Twitch subscription each month, and — perhaps best of all — ad-free viewing.

The service kicks off immediately, allowing users to get instant access to Hearthstone hero Tyrande Whisperwind and a free copy of Proletariat’s game Streamline, which lets streamers interact with viewers.

It’s a great bonus for those who use Amazon Prime, which at this point should be everyone, really.
