[UPDATE: Now with a gameplay trailer, too! See the bottom of the page!]

Fans of fighting games don’t have to wait too long for their next fix. One of the most beloved fighting series is finally making a comeback.

At Sony’s PSX Showcase event today, the company revealed the next entry in the popular team-based tournament fighter. Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is the fourth game in the MvS series, and this time brings a lot of changes to the mix.

The announcement was made through a debut trailer, seen above, that pitted Ryu and Mega Man X against Captain Marvel and Iron Man. With no X-Man shown in the clip, it leads us to believe that Marvel is going all-in on their own MCU franchise characters instead of those it licenses out to Fox and Sony. Though, we may still see Spider-Man (fingers crossed).

  • The battles will switch from 3v3 to 2v2 fights.
  • Infinity Stones will play an important party to both the single player and arcade modes.
  • In single player, the Infinity Stones (Time, Space, Mind, Power, Soul and Reality) bring the two worlds of Marvel and Capcom together in a cinematic story told over the course of battles and animations. This could be Capcom’s answer to Netherrealm’s popular single player modes in the recent Mortal Combat and Injustice titles.
  • Single player will also bring missions, training and arcade modes, as well as world rankings and other online asymmetric play.
  • In multiplayer mode, the Infinity Stones will change the battles in varied and sometimes unpredictable ways, creating an all new dynamic for players to (try and) control.
  • More characters will be announced over the next several months leading up to the game’s release in late 2017 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC (no news on any potential Switch version)

And here’s the first gameplay video of the new game!
