How do you tell your development team that the game they’d been working so hard to complete now had to basically be redone for a new console? You troll them.
Just development things 🙃 The #Zelda team was caught off guard, but pleasantly surprised by the portability of #NintendoSwitch pic.twitter.com/n1byyVjCIk

At a GDC talk today, it was revealed that the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild development team found out about the game moving to Switch in an amazing way. Series Director Eiji Aonuma simpley sent an email to the team, out of the blue, that they’ve “decided to make ‘Breath of the Wild’ cross-platform for Nintendo Switch.”
As if that wasn’t harsh, he ends the email with “Good Luck!”
To put one more nail in the coffin, and to make sure that he wasn’t getting any birthday gifts for a few years, he sent a follow-up email:
“Have it ready by launch. :-)”
Epic.
