Trailer Tuesday: Tomb Raider, Punisher and Call of Duty shoot teasers at us

Video games and comics burst onto the screens this week, teasing us with projects available today and in the near future.

Above: The Punisher’s first Netflix series is almost here. Set to debut this Fall sometime, the show will follow Frank Castle as he seeks revenge on everyone who’s wronged him. After we left him at the end of Daredevil, he was broken without a will to live. With his own series now we’ll get to see how an unhinged psychopath deals with his inner demons, and how it affects those around him who actually care.

Voltron is the cartoon everyone should be watching. Coming up is its 4th season on Netflix, and while the show was originally aimed at kids in the 80s (and Beast King GoLion before it) the latest iteration has a much more mature vibe, right down to a Game of Thrones-like shifting chess piece substory. The new season starts up soon.

Speaking of cartoons on Netflix, Activision Blizzard’s Skylanders is back for Season 2 (of at least three) in October. The series follows Spyro and friends who must now deal with a terrible enemy that Kaos has inadvertently released. It’s fun for kids, and has strong ties to the games, even when the software takes a year off or so.\

I had no idea CODumentary was a thing, but it looks like the Call of Duty documentary could be an interesting view into the lives of professional COD players. Available today on digital services and Blu Ray/DVD.

Here’s a friendly reminder that the new Jumanji film isn’t based on a board game, but on a video game. I don’t know if it’s going to be any good for actual geeks, but, uh, THE ROCK IS IN IT.

We’ve known for a wile that Alicia Vikander’s take on Lara Croft’s Tomb Raider will focus more on the modern two games, but now we have our first look at what that actually means: bow hunting! Tomb Raider is due in 2018.
