Detective Pikachu will be played by Ryan Reynolds in upcoming film

In “hey, let’s make this week even more bizarre” news, The Hollywood Reporter is breaking the news that in the upcoming Detective Pikachu live-action film, Pikachu will be voiced by none other than Ryan Reynolds.

Yes, Deadpool‘s Ryan Reynolds. You know, the guy who was the Green Lantern and also married Sandra Bullock in a cheesy romcom? That guy. He’ll be joining the recently announced Justice Smith to the film.

The film is still a ways off from release, but if they’re throwing their (detective) hat in with casting this early then the production is moving along.

Two guys, a girl, a pizza place, and a Pokeball.
