SideQuesting’s PAX East 2018 Team Choice Awards

PAX East 2018 came and went, and we saw some phenomenal games again this year. When it came time to select our favorites, ee racked our brains, head-butted a few times, and even recorded a podcast about it. But we did it. We selected our favorites. And here they are!

Rumu

It’s a game about a carpet cleaning robot that becomes sentient and lonely. It’s sad and intriguing, and gave us feels.

A Church in the Darkness

Cults are all the rage. Heck, they’ve been the rage since at least the 70s, when the game takes place. Your goal is to infiltrate a religious cult and rescue your niece.

The Gardens Between

Friendship and youth go hand-in-hand, so when The Gardens Between represents this, it does so through larger than life memories and puzzles that harken back to a simpler age.

Pixel Ripped

It’s school, in VR. Pixel Ripped shows us how narratives can unfold from a completely different perspective.

Solo

Solo is an introspective game about love, relationships, and how the player views these things in their own lives. It may leave you emotional.

Earthfall

Earthfall’s likeness to Left 4 Dead provides the industry with much-missed co-op gameplay.

Above

Above follows Mary as she searches for her brother, building and flying planes along the way.

Black Future ’88

We have 18 minutes to complete the game before our heart explodes and we die. Black Future has us looking to prolong that by traversing up a procedurally generated tower in which everything is trying to kill us.
