Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon announced, coming May 24

Bloodstained isn’t even out yet, and there’s already a new game announced and arriving soon.

The Koji Igarashi produced Bloodstained aims to capture the magic and feel of Castlevania games of yore, but it’s not ready yet. Yes, it’s still scheduled to arrive sometime this year, but before it does it will have some company. Igarashi-san took to Youtube during BitSummit to reveal that an 8-bit game in the series was in development, and will be released at the end of this month.

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon aims to be even more of that Castlevania you’ve been missing. It carries the visual style and feel of the NES’s Castlevania 3, right down to selectable multiple characters and blocky platforming. Heck, even the character colors are similar.

But, that may very well be fine. We need more games like this, especially if it comes close to what Vania 3 was (which was amazing).

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon launches on May 24 for PS4, Switch, Xbox One, PS Vita, 3DS and PC.
