E3 2018: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey brings more RPG to the series

The next Assassin’s Creed game is set in ancient Greece.

In Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, players take on the role of a descendent of Leonidas, choosing between either Alexios (male) or Kassandra (female). The protagonist of choice has inherited the Spartan hero’s legendary broken spear, imbued with magic and powers that can help create their legend. The game will let players travel around ancient Greece, from the depths of the Aegean Sea to the islands of Mykonos and the great cities in between. Taking place in 431 BC during the Peloponnesian War, players will do their best to ward off and defeat the Athenians, whether it’s by taking down their generals or engaging in massive 150v150 character combat.

RPG elements continue to jump into the AssCreed world, as this version includes several different endings and over 30 hours of conversational choice dialogue. Players will be able to interact with Greek history, by meeting historical figures like Socrates or bumping weapons with mythological beasts like the Minotaur and Medusa. Armor can be picked up from bodies to change the appearance on the fly, ship customization will let gamers personalize their sea-faring ride, archery is back, and fighting while on horseback will add a new dimension to battles.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey launches October 5th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
