More of Cyberpunk 2077 revealed in 48-minute gameplay video

At E3 earlier this year, some of us were fortunate enough to go behind the closed doors of CD Projekt Red’s meeting room to witness a nearly 50-minute demo of their next game, Cyberpunk 2077. That demo is now available for all to see.

Well, it’s not exactly the same demo. What you can watch above is, while content-wise the same, not completely what we saw. Yes, it’s stunning. Yes, it paints an incredible vision of a future in which cybernetic enhancements run amok. Yes, it includes dudes who basically want to become robots. And yes, the car is VERY bad ass.

But our demo actually lasted almost an hour.

Because of the live nature of these kinds of events, demos can have issues, or the developer playing the game might inadvertently do something they’re not supposed to. During our demo time, both happened, which prolonged the experience just a bit more. In one scene, where the protagonist is pulling into the industrial docks, the dev’s controller lost connection to the PC. We were treated to about a minute or so of awkward silence, then a camera spin around the car to make sure the controller was working again (and to undoubtedly make me drool at the vehicle’s design) before the demo continued. In another situation, our dev demoer accidentally pressed the wrong button in combat and revealed the arm weapons too early. This led them to explain the weapon ahead of time, which let us salivate just a bit more.

Enjoy this clip, because we don’t know when the game is going to arrive or what it will look like when it finally does. Images and video courtesy CD Projekt Red.
