Sony reveals PlayStation Productions to create TV & film adaptations of its games

First project to be based on Twisted Metal

The Hollywood Reporter has broken news on Sony’s next plans for the PlayStation brand. The electronics company will be leveraging its video game IP into projects for TV, Film and more under a brand new PlayStation Productions banner. This wont’ fully replace licensing IP, but it will give the company more control over what is created.

Theoretically this will promote IP beyond just game releases, so that fans won’t have to wait too long in between Kratos’ many journeys into madness, or Nathan Drake’s adventures (if there will ever be more). The first project announced is based on Twisted Metal and will be a TV series, though no date was revealed.

I’m hopeful for a Fat Princess cartoon series, to be honest.
