Nintendo reveals upgraded Switch with better battery life

Now you can play Breath of the Wild for 6 more minutes!

Just a week after revealing the Nintendo Switch Lite, the big red company has announced yet another new Switch. Sort of.

While this isn’t the mythical Switch Pro, the new Nintendo Switch uses the same battery tech upgrade, along with a few of the other internal tweaks, that the Lite has, which so far only seems to reveal a longer battery life when compared to the current model. There are no physical changes, no size changes, and no feature additions or reductions. This will look exactly the same as the current model.

Games won’t suddenly have 4K or be more powerful, in other words, but that bump in battery life from 2.5-6.5 hours to 4.5-9 hours will serve as a nice big jump for those of us who play in handheld mode often.

The console will release at the end of August in Japan, with no announced US date (yet).

UPDATE: Announced for the West as well.
