As I’m sure you are well aware, The Humble Indie Bundle has been bringing the world great packs of indie games through a DRM free, name your own price model since May 2010. Well, if you enjoy getting other types of media on the cheap (or expensive, if you so choose), we’ve got some good news for you; they just expanded into the realm of music.
The very first “The Humble Music Bundle” just went live. For the next two weeks, you can pay what you want for five geekcentric albums, and a sixth is added when you beat the current average price. Oh, and did I mention that any or all of your donation can go to the Electronic Frontier Foundation or Child’s Play charities? Or all of it can go to the artists. Or if you just want to help them keep running site site, you can leave any or all of your amount as a “tip” to cover hosting costs, etc. They kept the same model they’ve used in the past to make sure you have the freedom to choose how your hard earned dough is spent.

First off, you have my favorite band of all time, They Might Be Giants with a rarities collection titled Album Raises New and Troubling Questions. Jonathan Coulton is on board with Jonathan Coulton’s Greatest Hit (Plus 13 Other Songs), which includes a live version of Still Alive. A 20 song best-of album, chosen by the rapper laureate himself, MC Frontalot includes cuts from his entire catalog. If you’re as big a fan of Civilization as I am, you will no doubt recognize Christopher Tin’s GRAMMY winning soundtrack for Civilization IV (it’s the only song from a video game to ever win a GRAMMY). Best of the Valkyria Chronicles by Hitoshi Sakimoto will put you right back in the trenches of the faux World War I tactical RPG series. And if you beat the average, OK Go’s Twelve Remixes of Four Songs (which is exactly what it the title implies) will also be yours.
