Ninjala resurfaces during latest Nintendo Direct

Bubble gum ninja action looks like it’s been revamped

A few years ago, we had the opportunity to try Ninjala for Nintendo’s Switch. It left us mostly unimpressed, unfortunately, and we essentially forgot about it.

Flash forward to TODAY and Nintendo has revealed that the Gungho Online game still exists, and has gone through some pretty extensive changes. First and foremost, it’s now free-to-play. That should be a way to help open up the game to more players, as it was originally really looking like a Splatoon clone. I guess it still does, to be honest, but at least now you won’t be charged for it.

The game’s traversal looks like it’s been greatly improved, and the weapons seem to have been fine-tuned to have better hit zones. Blowing bubble gum now lets you do more than just stick your enemies to the ground, as chewing can help you hide as well.

And those visuals actually do look pretty yummy, we have to say. Suddenly, our interest is piquing again.

Ninjala will launch in May for the Switch.
