Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition launches May 29

New epilogue included

During a “surprise” Nintendo Direct Mini today, Nintendo and Monolith revealed the release date for Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition: May 29, 2020.

The giant RPG began life on Nintendo’s Wii, then made its way to the Wii U, and had even been remade for the 3DS — all before Xenoblade Chronicles X and a full Switch sequel, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, arrived. Now, the original saga gets updated with improved visuals and controls and a new epilogue, Future Connected, for Nintendo’s most popular console in a decade.

Nintendo is boasting the improved visuals, which move to HD for the first time, and how the added pixels will improve the (much maligned) HUD and on-screen text. A few of the musical tracks will also be remastered. On the same day as the regular edition of the game, a “Definitive Works Set” will also arrive, packaging in a 250-page art book.
