Fallout is coming to TV in new series

Amazon to host & develop the show alongside Bethesda

We might finally get to see Vault Boy on our screens again, outside of Smash Bros. Amazon Studios has announced that it’s acquired the TV rights of the Fallout franchise from Bethesda. The news means that the mega company will develop a new show for its streaming service based in the world of the post-apocalypse.

Well, to be honest, we don’t know much about what the show will actually be about; sure, Fallout is known for the Wasteland, but it also has some intense stories of pre- and current Vault life, so the series could very well take place before the bombs actually drop. Or during. Or after. The release notes the general dark setting of the game’s world set alongside moments of B-movie quirkiness.

The company will be working with Lisa Joy & Jonathan Nolan’s Kilter Films, the developers of HBO’s Westworld, on the new series, so they’re well aware of what a crazy, unwanted future could be like.

There’s no date yet for the show, though it likely won’t be ready for a while. Let’s just hope it doesn’t require us waiting in a bunker to find out.
