Animal Crossing’s Halloween update goes live next week

Big Autumn update adds pumpkins, costumes, more

Animal Crossing has had a steady stream of updates and DLC over the year since its release, and all of it has been free. That continues with the Halloween themed update arriving next week.

The big update allows players the ability to wear costumes, plant pumpkins, and decorate their homes with DIY Halloween crafts, creating a “spooky” experience. New reactions even let players freak each other out. Candy will also become available, so that players can hand it out on Halloween night, when the series’ Jack arrives in his pumpkin-headed glory.

The update arrives on September 30th.

Nintendo also revealed that it’s bringing back the Animal Crossing amiibo cards (Series 1-4) in November to let players bring villagers into their games. That will go nicely with the now re-releasing Animal Crossing themed Switch that makes its retail return.

Finally, anyone who downloads the update next week will get an in-game Ring-Con to show off.
