If you look hard enough online, you can run into the much maligned Star Wars Holiday Special from the early 80s — it’s a truly marvelous, horrible piece of work that features Wookies doing Wookie things for Life Day, their version of the holiday.
Years later, we finally have another Star Wars acknowledgment of the Winter holiday season.
The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special looks as silly as one would expect a LEGO animated event to be, and draws inspiration from the vast history of Star Wars, even up through today’s Mandalorian. The film will focus on a time-traveling adventure for Rey and crew as they bump into fan favorites of the Star Wars canon, fighting back and forth and dropping some genuinely cute content. It’s the closest we’ll have until whenever the Skywalker Saga game arrives.
The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special hits Disney+ on November 17th.
